About the Principal
Dr. D. Varun is an accomplished Academician, Researcher and Institutional Leader with more than 20 years of experience in Pharmaceutical Education, Research and Academic Administration. He holds a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad, an M.Pharm. in Pharmaceutics with First Class and Distinction, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Drug Regulatory Affairs.
He currently serves as Professor, Principal and Head-Department of Pharmaceutics at Pulla Reddy Institute of Pharmacy, Hyderabad. His areas of expertise include Pharmaceutics, Advanced Drug Delivery Systems, Formulation Research and Development, Pharmaceutical Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Research and Pharmaceutical Management.
Dr. Varun has published 98 Research papers and guided 172 Research Projects at B.Pharm., M.Pharm., Pharm.D. and Pharm.D. (Post Baccalaureate) levels. He is a recognized Ph.D. supervisor, with research scholars successfully awarded doctoral degrees and several scholars currently working under his guidance.
His intellectual contributions include 8 published Indian Patent applications, 4 design Registrations, Authored and Co-authored books, Laboratory Manuals, Study Materials and Book Chapters in Pharmaceutical Sciences. His major research interests include advanced Drug-Delivery Systems, Formulation Development, Herbal Product Development, In-Vivo Characterization, Pharmaceutical Regulatory Affairs and Clinical Research.
He has served as a Pharmacy Council of India Inspector and has undertaken several National- Level Professional Responsibilities. He has contributed to Indian Pharmaceutical Congresses, IPA Student Congresses, APTICON, IPSF and other National and International Scientific Forums as a Coordinator, Organizing Committee Member, Scientific-Session Chairperson, Adjudicator, Invited Speaker and Resource Person.
In recognition of his contributions to Pharmaceutical Education and Academic Leadership, Dr. Varun has received several honours, including the Excellence in Academic Leadership Award, Exemplary Leadership in Higher Education Award, Principal of the Year Award, Excellence in Pharmaceutical Education Award, Best Academician Award, Outstanding Scientist Award and Best Research Paper Award.
